Winemaker Tom Doczy has been making wine for about 35 years, first as a hobbyist and now as his serious profession. His love of Petite Sirah was one inspiration for starting John Christopher Cellars. His wife Chris loved Zinfandel, so those two wines became the  primary varietals for the winery.  Moving to Livermore and being surrounded by beautiful vineyards and exceptional world class wines provided the impetus to open his own winery. John Christopher Cellars is named after Tom and Chris's two sons, using their middle names.  The winery produces approximately 1500 cases of hand and heart crafted superb wine.  Each vintage of wine is made in about 200 case lots. Stop in our tasting room and often times Tom will be there to answer your questions or just "talk wine".
